Key People

Freeman Fong, AIA - Owner
Freeman has been an architect for over thirty years. He is a creative designer who welcomes the challenge of difficult design restrictions. He has expertise in budgeting, programming, scheduling, contract document preparation, and construction administration. His wide-ranging experience and creative approach make him open to unconventional, unexpected design solutions. He balances a broad perspective with attention to detail. One client recalled that, "Freeman demonstrated creativity with projects others would have approached as mundane." Freeman received a Master of Architecture from the University of Washington in 1976 and a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley in 1972. He is NCARB certified and a Registered Architect in Washington, California, and Oregon, in addition to being a member of the American Institute of Architects and the Rotary Club of Seattle. Freeman lives in an historic house on Queen Anne Hill in Seattle with his two children, Max and Quinn.

 

Rodrigo Del Carpio – Associate
Rodrigo believes the essence of architecture is relationships. The work of an architect is to create spaces of relationships – relationships between people, events, history, and cultures. It is a process of generating spaces of communication with nature, with other people, and with the divine. His experience encompasses hospitality, residential, governmental, and entertainment projects. He is a creative designer with a curiosity that compels him to find new ways to resolve design challenges.

Rodrigo has been licensed as an architect in Mexico City since 2000. He is currently training to run a marathon in 2009.

 

Kevin Kobayashi – Associate
Kevin is a strong project manager and designer who is conscientious of budgets, setting high standards for himself to reach client goals and needs. Because of his standards, all of his projects achieve a high level of sophistication and owner satisfaction. A native of Hawaii, Kevin earned a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Hawaii and is currently taking his State of Washington architectural licensing exam. Kevin recently took up snowboarding.

 

 

Michael Jan – Associate
Michael brings a strong background in management and administrative leadership to Freeman Fong Architecture. A graduate of Washington State University with a BA in Sport Management/Marketing, Michael has experience in accounting, marketing, event planning and translation services (Chinese to English). He is an avid tennis player, participating regularly in a USTA adult league in Seattle.

Jung Kum Lee – Associate
Jung believes on delivering her projects on time and on budget, with strength in client coordination and development. Her experience in governmental projects includes schools, fire stations, and healthcare, while her private sector record features both national and international work on hospitality development of hotels, spas, residential, and retail. She earned her Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Hawaii, and has won numerous design awards as well as being published in both Korean and English. Jung enjoys traveling, sketching, and spending time with their newborn son.
